Africa is blessed with all varieties of foods that are both tasty and appealing to the eyes. However, there are some foods who fit only part of the above mentioned. They do wonders to your taste buds but are not so appealing to look at. Here are 5 foods that might look and sound very unappealing but taste so good.

SNAIL: When I told my Caucasian professor that one of the foods I missed eating were snails, she looked like she was about to puke. I’ve come to accept this reaction from foreigners who hear that I eat snails. The thought of them slithering all over the place with all their slime is enough to make anyone gag. But that aside, they taste really good.

“DRAW” SOUP: “Draw” soup is generally any kind of soup that is slimy and has a slimy feel to it. Naturally, the thought of eating anything slimy is nauseating to most people, except to Africans for obvious reasons.

BEANS PORRIDGE: Beans porridge to a foreigner might look like poo. Eww right?! Until you taste it and discover just how good it tastes.

GROUNDNUT SOUP: Groundnut soup is very popular in West Africa, especially in Ghana. The general look of the soup when it’s cooked is not very aesthetically pleasing. But who cares about that if it tastes bomb?!
